Business & Finance
PROJECT A: Business Plan/Proposal
In this project aligned with A Long Walk to Water, students investigate organizations that help provide water-wells to developing countries and create a business plan/proposal to start their own partner organization. The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (www.nfteconnect.org) provides sample templates for business plans, lesson plans, and curriculum support and resources for this project. Teachers can join for free.
MATERIALS NEEDED: business plan template, Internet access
PROJECT B: Online Stock Market Game

Students first read about stocks and the stock market before beginning the hands on component of this project.
Obtain the stock market project packet from Mrs.Ehrlich. After selecting your stocks, follow them for 2 weeks going forward and 4 weeks prior to the beginning of the project.
MATERIALS NEEDED: I'm A Shareholder Kit: The Basics About Stock by Rick Roman, Erin Roman (or similar text), computer with PowerPoint, calculators, Stock Market Project packet, Internet access.
Alternate Project B about the stock market. Develop an educational game based on the stock market. This could be a board game or some other format.
PROJECT C: Describe how you can help a college student stay out of financial trouble. His FICO score is too low to finance a car that he needs for a job. Be sure to explain all the factors that will affect him/her.
PROJECT D: Choose a famous entrepreneur from this list.

FIND OUT: What inspired them? What are they best known for? What are some interesting facts about them? What lessons do you take away from their life stories? How will their story change you? Find the real "back story" about this person. Report your findings in an essay, powerpoint, letter or a project of your choice demonstrating your findings.
Project E: Develop a company with a product or service you are excited about. Include a business plan and make a video that promotes the product or service you have developed.
